2013 marks the 10th year of Music in Mears and we are back with more then just great music! Lowertown Entertainment District will be serving Summit beer and great food from their member restaurants along with a variety of food trucks each week! Keep an eye on the site, like us on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter to get updates, alerts and more info on other artists and merchants featured at shows.
The Story - Music in Mears was founded in 2004 by Brian Horst (Details Style Lab) and Kyle Johnson (Joga Bonito). The series that started with just 4 shows in September grew to 12 weeks in 2006 and continues to add to the excitement of living, working or playing in Downtown St. Paul! In 2009, Brian Horst brought in Clint Roberts (One Simple Plan) and his knowledge of the local music scene and marketing expertise and Paul Kaelble (Subway/Zantigo)has been blending the sweet sounds for the series since 2006. Music in Mears has truly blossomed and continues to see bigger crowds and receive numerous accolades. Thanks to everyone that makes this series a success!
Show your support - While we love bringing these free shows to the lowertown community, we spend a great deal of time and energy into gathering sponsors and writing grants to cover the band and operating budget. We ask that you to consider making a tax deductible contribution through an online fundraising site on Razoo. Every dollar makes a big impact on the grassroots series and we appreciate the support! We will also be a schedule of food vendors as we get it programed. Lastly, we are still working on bringing movies into the last 6 weeks of the series and this year we are focusing on the local film industry. MUSIC IN MEARS SERIES SEEKS QUALITY FILM SUBMISSIONS –
Locally Produced FEATURE and SHORT Films, Trailers, Music Videos and "Commercials".
This year, the Music In Mears is looking to branch out and incorporate bringing movies into the last six weeks of the series, with a specific focus on local films and filmmakers. While these plans are still being finalized, that added creative aspect gives us all one more reason to head out to Mears Park throughout the summer months. A dedicated team of noted and local film makers will evaluate submissions and compile both multiple evenings of FEATURE length films, and the balance of the evenings being comprised of compilations of SHORTS, TRAILERS, MUSIC VIDEOS and COMMERCIALS - all of which will be given preference having as much locally produced content as possible. Only the highest quality productions will be considered as the intent of focusing on locally produced films is to help broaden our audience base, and thus strengthen the future opportunity for the entire film making community locally. These screenings will also help to cooperatively drive potential audience members to both the MSPIFF, and TCFF film festivals.
Please send BLU RAY compatible and/or Online Screener submissions along with a short bio about the production(s) by July 4th , 2013 to:
